Bio Security

Bio-security is extremely serious issue on which no tolerance can be done. Our bio-security policies and practices cover all facets of our operation, from animal care to egg processing and shipping. We strictly follow bio-security precautions and procedures. Indeed bio-security is so important to our business that we can’t afford a single mistake.
Specific measures to ensure bio-security at farm include:
Controlled public access. The days of welcoming members of the general public to tour our farms are, regrettably. To reduce the risk of contamination, entry to our facilities is strictly monitored, and no business guest is allowed without a management’s permission.
Restricted staff access. Our own staff members are not permitted to enter in production or processing facilities without following proper protocol.
Facility cleanliness. maintain the cleanliness of our facilities, inside and out, including:
- Foot baths at every doorway, both exterior and interior, to disinfect the soles of footwear
- Daily henhouse cleaning, with appropriate filters, to remove dust
- Meticulous cleaning of egg processing equipment and facilities
- Effective rodent control practices to minimize the risk of rodent-borne disease
- Facility design techniques that minimize dust and feathers, and make cleaning easier
Bird screening and testing. To prevent disease and the salmonella enteritidis (SE) bacteria, friends accept only healthy, SE-free chicks. In addition, we regularly test both growing pullets and mature hens for SE and other issues. These same policies apply to our contract farms. As a result, our flocks produce only premium-quality eggs.
Monitoring technology. Our system software monitors and maintains age-appropriate feeding, lighting, and ventilation in the bird houses, along with proper egg wash- and rinse-water temperatures, cooler temperatures, and equipment function in the processing facilities. All of this is to encourage optimum bird health and ensure consumer safety.
Vaccination. All hens are vaccinated against the salmonella bacteria and other diseases, both as pullets and as mature hens. We make disease prevention a priority to ensure the health of the birds and the food safety of our products. (Note that our hens are never treated with hormones and receive antibiotics only when prescribed by a veterinarian.)
Regardless of the housing method, hens that lay eggs for our egg products are provided with fresh air, clean water and the right temperature and lighting levels, based on scientific standards and adjusted for each individual flock. All hens are fed a high quality diet that is nutritionally balanced to meet their age-specific needs.
Proper handling at all stages of life. From the time they hatch to the time they leave our care, our hens receive humane, respectful treatment.
